Problem Details
Problem Statement
ORA-00942 when trying to run dbvisit after creating the standby for Archive send and Apply
Applicable Error Code
ORA-00942: Table or View Does Not Exist
Affected Versions
Dbvisit Standby Version 6.0 and 7.0
Affected Platforms
Platform independent
When we try to initiate the Run Interactive - Default action, but get the following error:
201301282117 - ORA-00942: table or view does not exist Dbvisit Standby terminated. Return code = 942
This error often indicates an issue with the Dbvisit Standby repository and so the first thing we would suggest is checking the status of this by going to:
Home > Setup > Update Dbvisit > Manage Dbvisit Repository - and then selecting the Check Dbvisit Repository option from the drop down menu.
If there are still issues with this - and this is a new installation - then you can try creating a new Dbvisit Standby repository by going to:
Home > Setup > Update Dbvisit > Manage Dbvisit Repository - and then selecting the Create Dbvisit Repository option from the drop down menu.
If this is successful then try the Default run operation again to see if that now works.
Running this process you may get a (check) error saying the user already exists (before they are dropped) but if there is no other Dbvisit Standby installation that is running on this particular system then you can drop this schema (database user) and then try recreating with Dbvisit Standby through the GUI or CLI again.
If you run it via the command line (dbvisit_setup
) and then choose option 4 the application will be able to drop and recreate the user for you.
